We travelled to the Houses of Parliament for the second reading of the Sunshine Bill – a proposed law that would make solar panels mandatory on all new homes in the UK.
We joined forces with fellow members of Solar Nation, a collective of over 60 local solar installers, to watch MPs debate the bill and show our support for rooftop solar becoming the standard in new builds.
In this video, we explain what the Sunshine Bill is, why it matters, and how it could help homeowners save money, reduce emissions, and accelerate the UK’s transition to net zero. We also introduce our Solar Benefit Calculation petition – aiming to ensure that no home is sold without an estimate of the financial and environmental benefits of going solar.
You'll hear from Kevin Holland, founder of Solar Nation, as well as a number of passionate MPs, including Green Party co-leader Carla Denyer and Max Wilkinson, the MP who introduced the bill.
